You are here : Development Experience > New Connections Budget Estimator
Welcome to our new connections budget estimator
Using this tool, you can understand the estimated costs of your connection to our existing network. Alternatively, you can submit a free video application which will allow our Application Cost Engineers to provide a more robust desktop estimate. We can convert this to a full application if you wish to proceed.

If you are ready to submit a full application, you can do so by logging in to our Development Experience Portal.
The New Connections Budget Estimator tool will estimate the cost of your connection including:
- Application fee: When you’re ready to progress, you will need to make an application, and there is a fee associated with this. This covers the cost associated with upfront application processing, which can include reviewing and acknowledging an application, checking that all relevant information has been received and preparing a cost advice (quotation).
- Administration fee: This is a charge associated with general administration activities, after the cost advice (quotation) stage, relating to the construction phase, which can include processing any payments, scheduling the works, supervision and project management, and processing information into relevant billing/management systems.
- Connection construction costs: These are the costs involved in physically carrying out the connection works, including laying our side of the pipework, making the connection to our existing network and fitting a meter. This does not include work on your property which you will be responsible for. See note below if you are looking to install multiple connections.
- Traffic management costs: Sometimes you will require traffic management costs, such as a road closure, lights or stop/go signs. Based on your answers below, the tool will estimate the cost of any traffic management.
- Infrastructure charges: The purpose of our Infrastructure Charge is to ensure new connection customers contribute to the costs of reinforcing our network required as a result of increased pressures from new premises being connected.
- Environmental component: The Environmental Component is a charge levied by water companies, against all household properties, to fund Environmental Incentives for promoting water efficiency.
Important note about our budget calculator
- Our online cost calculator does not include the use of manifolds, which might be a more cost-effective option for your project. Manifolds can help reduce trench size and the amount of pipework needed.
- To help you choose the best connection method and get a more accurate cost estimate, please submit an application online. Once you've submitted and paid for the application, we can arrange for a surveyor to visit your site and provide detailed cost advice.
- Alternatively, you can submit a video application for a free desktop survey. Our Application Cost Engineers will review the video and provide you with a cost estimate based on the information provided.
