We provide an average of 950 million litres of water each day to a population of more than 3.9 million people in parts of Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey, the London Boroughs of Harrow and Hillingdon, and parts of the London Boroughs of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, and Enfield. We also supply water to the Tendring peninsula in Essex and the Folkestone and Dover areas of Kent.

What to do in an emergency

We conduct rigorous testing to maintain water quality. If we think there’s a problem with the quality of your drinking water, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and give you advice on what to do. We’ll also provide alternative water where necessary.

In rare cases, we might advise boiling water as a precaution, or we may ask you to not use your water at all.
