Prevent your pipes bursting now!

From 24 January

You may remember in December there was disruption on our network. Pipes that had frozen during the cold weather suddenly thawed, causing bursts within water networks and, at times, within customers' homes as well. This is because changes in temperature cause the ground to move and pipes will also expand and contract. Weak sections of the pipes are then put under more pressure, which causes them to fracture and burst.

This week, we're expecting a similar rapid thaw, as the temperatures are rising after a week of below freezing temperatures. This means your home is more likely to suffer a burst pipe, which can cause damage and is costly to fix.

With a few simple, low-cost changes, we can help you to get your home winter ready.?Check out our winter checklist and handy how-to videos to help you to insulate your pipes, thaw frozen pipes and find your stop tap in case of an emergency.
